Jug

Creamware jug, transfer printed in sepia with a female figure representing Britannia shown mourning at a monument surmounted by an urn, the transfer is flanked by two rosettes. On the monument is a circular portrait inscribed 'HORATIA (sic) NELSON', on the plinth 'Born Septm 29th 1758 Died Octr 21, 1805'. Above the print is the caption 'Britannia weeping o'er the Ashes of her Matchless Hero, LORD NELSON'. On the other side, a gentleman seated by a tree stump, his right hand raised, with a paper on his knee inscribed 'Oracle or Politicians guide'. A sailing cutter is shown in the background.
