Jug

A large earthenware jug, hand-painted in colour with an oval portrait of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) below the lip within a star surround. He wears a uniform but no hat. The jug has a deep painted exterior border of gold oak leaves on a dark blue background. Inside, the border are blue irregular spots on a gold ground. On each side is an iris and oak leaf spray painted in brown and gold with a gold butterfly. The handle is blue with gold decoration.
