Ornament
Painted stoneware ornament made in three pieces which fit together to form a tall lidded vase. The central body section has two handles and is decorated with reliefs of flowers, bunches of grapes, and acanthus leaves. There is a half-length relief of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) on one side in a red coat and a ram's head on the other. The lid is pierced with a heart, diamond and spade. The whole rests on a flat, heavy, circular base, with a neck through which the hollow stem of the body fits.
