Jug
An earthenware jug with a 'pebble-dash' covering of shredded clay over the bottom two thirds of the surface. It commemorates Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). The neck is hand painted in overglaze enamels with pink and purple flowers, and leaves. On each side is an oval medallion painted in black on an apricot background, one shows shipping and is inscribed 'NELSON & TARS', the other a coastal view out to sea. There is acanthus moulding on the lip and a row of purple spots around the neck.
