Vase
Vase commemorating Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805), in dark blue jasper with white applied reliefs. The vase has a frilled top and spreading base. On one side is a uniformed figure of a naval officer holding a speaking trumpet, with a missing right arm, intended to represent Nelson. There is a gun, anchor and flag behind him. On the other side of the vase is a classically dressed female figure mourning beside a monument with a pyramid and urn. The vase has acanthus leaves at the sides and formal floral motifs around the top and the base.
