Jug

Pratt ware jug with crisply moulded decoration in relief. On one side is a profile portrait representing Admiral of the Fleet, Adam Duncan (1731-1804) 'ADMIREL (sic) DUNCAN' inscribed on a ribbon across his shoulder. There is a single-masted ship to his left and right and dolphins in a green sea below, from which a putto in a helmet emerges. On the other side of the jug are two female figures representing Peace and Plenty, one with a basket of flowers on her head and a wreath in her hand, the other holding a palm frond with a dog on her right. There is leaf decoration on the neck and base and under the lip and handle. The jug is neatly painted in blue, yellow, ochre, green and brown with a dark brown rim.
