Jug

Pratt ware jug crudely moulded in relief with profiles representing Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) and Rear-Admiral Sir Edward Berry (1768-1831). The figure inscribed 'Admiral Nelson' is facing left to the left of the handle. Berry is on the other side, facing right, inscribed 'Captain Berry'. They have blue coats with yellow lace, brown hats, hair and orange order ribbons. The inscriptions are moulded on the neck and painted brown. In the background, the sea is painted with green and orange stripes with a ship on either side of each portrait, her sails painted blue and orange. The jug has a brown rim and a blue tinged glaze. Moulded fleur de lis decoration runs around the rim and the jug has an acanthus leaf on the handle. Berry was Nelson's Flag Captain at the Battle of the Nile.
