An earthenware jug with an ovoid body and purple lustre borders. Each side is transfer-printed in lilac with a ship under sail, a gun and standards forming a decorative base to the sea. 'Alexander' is printed below the ship portraits and 'Captain Jackson 1816' painted in purple lustre below the acanthus moulded lip.
