Bone china plate, printed in black on a gold background with a large picture of the Caudebec mariner's astrolabe. On a ribbon above is inscribed 'AD HABENDVM NOTITIAM STELLARVM FIXARVM IN ASTROLABIO POSITARVM', on the astrolabe 'NICOLLAS * LE * TELLIER * MA * FAICTE A HONNEFLEUR 1632'. The Caudebec astrolabe was one of the few sea astrolabes identified as such before the Second World War. It was destroyed by bombing in 1940. The name of the maker and retailer 'HOTSCHENREUTHER ARZBERG BAVARIA GERMANY' printed on the base.
