Serbian flag (1835-1882, after 1992)
A machine sewn flag made of wool bunting with a cotton hoist. It has three horizontal stripes in red, blue and white. 'MP' is marked on the hoist in ink and a rope halyard is attached.
'Drawings of the Flags in use at the Present Time by Various Nations' Admiralty (1915), identifies this as the 'Servian, merchant ensign'. The design was marked 'deleted' at the end of the war. This example is likely to be British-made for a flag display.
