Plate

Earthenware mess plate, transfer-printed with a chain link border in blue. In the centre, in brown, a garter belt inscribed 'H.M.S. IMPLACABLE' enclosing a crown above a foul anchor, 'NO 13' below. Used on 'HMS Implacable', ex-French 'Duguay Trouin', which was captured in 1805. The vessel was used for many years as a training ship before being scuttled in 1949.
