Plate
A crescent-shaped, salad plate, white, with a transfer-printed device in black of a naval crown with a scroll below bearing the motto 'VERNON SEMPER VIRET'. From 'HMS Vernon' 1886, it is not officially issued china, so was presumably purchased by the wardroom. The item was found at Royal Clarence Yard, Gosport in 1975. The maker's mark 'Flight' with a crown and crescent is printed on the base.
