Plate
White porcelain plate from the German battlecruiser 'Moltke' 1910. It is printed in grey blue on a white ground and has a narrow border around the rim ending in terminals which flank a count's coronet above a shield bearing a Prussian iron cross inscribed 'W 1864 1860 1870'. The whole is surmounted by a Count's coronet. The plate was recovered from the officer's mess when the ship was salvaged in 1927 after she was scuttled at Scapa Flow on 21 June 1919. The base is printed with the maker's mark and the retailer's name 'ANDREAS PAULSEN KIEL'.
