Plate
Earthenware plate, as used on the British National Antarctic Expedition, 1901. It has a blue rim and gold edge, and is printed in blue with the badge of the expedition - a penguin on an ice floe surrounded by a garter inscribed: 'DISCOVERY ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION 1901'. The maker's mark is printed on the base. The expedition in 'Discovery' 1901 was led by Captain Robert Scott RN (1868-1912).
