Commander's log from the cable ship GREAT EASTERN.
Logbook from the GREAT EASTERN (1858), covering a voyage from Sheerness to lay a cable across the Atlantic between Valentia in Ireland and Heart's Content in Newfoundland, 14 May to 17 September 1873. It also contains a harbour log for the period 13 January to 12 March 1862, during which the vessel was laid up at Milford Haven. Bound in green morroco with the printed title 'Great Ship Company Limited Commander's Log' and signed by the master Robert Charles Halpin.
