Plate

A porcelain plate, gilded and printed in blue with a portrait of George V (1865-1936) in naval uniform, the crown above and banners to the side. 'HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE' is inscribed on a garter surrounding the portrait and 'DIEU ET MON DROIT' on a ribbon below. A union shield inscribed 'QUIS SEPARABIT' and the arms of the members of the British Empire are placed around the border of the plate with the inscriptions 'CANADA', 'NOVA SCOTIA', 'NEWFOUNDLAND * NEW BRUNSWICK', 'JAMAICA', 'GREAT BRITAIN', 'B. GUIANA', ' STRAITS SETTLEMENT * HONG KONG', 'BAHAMAS', 'AUSTRALIA', 'CEYLON', 'NEW ZEALAND * FIJI *TASMANIA', 'B. BURMA', 'CAPE COLONY', 'OR. COLONY', 'SIERRA LEONE * GOLD COAST', 'LAGOS', 'TRANSVAAL', 'GIBRALTAR', 'CHANNEL ISLES * MALTA *ST HELENA', 'CYPRUS', 'INDIA' , 'TRINIDAD', 'COLOMBIA * WEST INDIES * B. HONDURAS', 'SOUDAN'. The plate is inscribed on the base: 'George V, By the Grace of God of Great Britain and Ireland and of all the British Dominions beyond the Seas, King, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India, Crowned June 22nd 1911'.
