This is a fine architectural study, looking east from the King William courtyard of the Royal Naval Hospital, Greenwich.

John Richard Llwyd Roberts (1875-1940) produced several topographical and architectural studies of South East London. A selection of the artist’s views of Greenwich was exhibited at the Woodlands Art Gallery in 1976, with a small accompanying catalogue (not in the Caird library). See: Llwyd Roberts: Watercolours and drawings of places in the Borough of Greenwich, exh. cat., Woodlands Art Gallery, Greenwich, 18 December 1976 to 18 January 1977.
