Button, Royal Naval uniform: pattern 1787-1812

Flag officer's button. Type introduced in 1787.Smooth edge. Raised design on a flat surface. Foul anchor with the rope attached to the ring at the top and then from the top of the right-hand side of the stock goes diagonally under the stock and shank to appear under the left-hand side of the stock and then it goes under the shank to the right and then under the tip of the right fluke. The anchor is within a raised circular border surrounded by two branches of laurel leaves.
