Anemometer
An anemometer with attached flex, removed from the roof of Flamsteed House, Royal Observatory Greenwich. Grey-painted metal with brass plaque recording the name of the maker, R W Munro, London N1. The body has the following details imprinted: "PULSE TRANSMITTER MK1/ MUNRO NBA/ SCREW IN TO REMOVE".
The photograph of the front cover of the first edition of Derek Howse's "Greenwich Time and Longitude" shows this instrument in position. It was used to indicate safe windspeeds for the opening of the dome of the Great Equatorial Building after the 28-inch telescope was remounted in 1975.
