Medal commemorating the laying of the Telpal cable

Bronze medal commemorating the laying of the Telpal cable, 1975. It has a wooden stand and a cardboard label. Obverse: A map of the cable route across the Eastern Mediterranean.. Legend: ''INTERNATIONAL SUBMARINE CABLE CO / JERUSALEM'. Exergue: 'TELFAL / TEL-AVIV-PALO / 1975'. Reverse: A globe bearing a diamond shape on which is a square panel inscribed in Hebrew and English: THEIR LINE GUIDES ALL OVER THE GLOBE', 'PSALM 19.5'. Presented to Mr H.P. Bird to commemorate the inaugeration of the Israel-Italy Submarine Telephone Cable System in 1975. The telephone cable was laid between Palo, Italy and Tel Aviv, Israel by HMTS/CS 'Alert'. The manufacturer was Standard Telephones and Cables Ltd and the operator, Italian PTT.
