A 12x10 negative. A view of small steam and sailing vessels in the Canal Basin at Gravesend, looking towards the Canal Tavern public house. The entrance to the Thames and Medway Canal is out of the picture to the left. The date 25/6/94 is written in the varnish on the emulsion side of the negative.
The publican at the Canal Tavern in this period was Henry Raine (1845-1910). He was born in Greenwich and worked as a waterman on the River Thames before moving to Gravesend.
