Flooding at Gravesend, 1901

A 12x10 negative. The Three Daws Tavern public house in Town Pier Square, off East Street, Gravesend surrounded by flood water during an exceptionally high spring tide on 28 November 1901. The photographer is looking north-by-east from East Street showing the west elevation of the building. The timber clad Old Pilots House is at the back of the building. This negative is a continuation of G931, which shows the flood water around the entrance to the Town Pier. Karl Bass (circa 1859-1910) was the publican of the Three Daws Tavern at this time.
