On the left is New Haven Fort. Small boats are moored in the foreground. The Sailors' Home was the rebuilt Commercial Hotel and before that the Wates Hotel. The hexagonal timber built Custom Lookout is still (2016) in existence. Among the many boats are two with raised sloping bulwarks and hinged covers. Negative number G572 was taken on the same occasion.
