Horatio Nelson, 1758 - 1805, Vice Admiral of the White
Framed and glazed pastel drawing of Horatio Nelson by Johann Heinrich Schmidt, in a gold frame and gold mount with an oval aperture. The miniature depicts the sitter in naval uniform with a blue jacket with gold epaulettes and buttons and awards on his left breast. The jacket is open to reveal a white shirt with a red sash and medals around his neck, as well as a black neck cloth. The sitter is shown with grey hair and no hat. The background is a grey-green and there is maker information written above the sitter's right shoulder.
