snuff box
Snuff box with a gilt profile of Czar Alexander I on the lid, given to Captain Henry Trollope (1756-1836). The box is made of tortoiseshell with a screw on lid. the lid is decorated with a gilt metal profile of the Tzar, under glass, facing right, based on a medal. It is signed on the truncation 'MOREL'. Legend: 'ALEXANDER. I . IMP. RUSSORUM.' The medalist may be Eugène Morel.
