A padded leather bound album with gilt decoration, with a decorative watercolour title page, containing 72 prints pasted in and 13 loose prints, all of various sizes in generally good condition and with pencilled captions. This album was given to Hershal by members of the Newcastle on Tyne and Northern Counties Photographic Association. The album features topographical views of Britian and abroad with a few maritime images. An inscription on the title page reads:
"Presented to Prof. A.S. Hershel, D.C.L., F.R.S.,&c, &c. President for the years 1885-6-7, of the Newcastle-on-Tyne & Northern Counties Photographic Association, by the members, as a slight acknowledgement of his valuable services to the Society during thet period. Commitee M. Auty, T. Galloway, J.P. Gibson, P.M. Laws, J.B. Payne, J.W. Robson, J. Pike Hon. Sec. Dec. 1887."
