Scabbard
Scabbard for a solid half-basket hilted sword, which belonged to Commodore Sir Robert Oliver (died 1848). The black leather scabbard has two gilt lockets, rings and chape. The mounts are ornamented with lines and scrolls, and in addition the chape is also decorated with a honeysuckle ornament. Engraved on the reverse of the top locket are the words 'PROSSER to H.R.H. Prince Albert (?) CHARING CROSS LONDON'.
