Album relating to Royal Naval service of Admiral Sir Oliver Backhouse (died 1943)

15 leaves from a photograph album. There are 68 photographs and photogravures pasted in.
The album includes the following vessels: HMS Excellent (shore estab.) in 1905-08, HMS Hyacinth (1898) in 1903-05, HMS Cumberland (1902) in 1908.
Also included are the following locations: Calcutta, Algiers, Palermo, Alexandria, Malta, Portsmouth.
There also photographs of Cdr. A. E. M. Chatfield (later Admiral of the Fleet), King Edward VII, and also the visit of the French Fleet to Portsmouth in 1905.
