HMS Triumph (1903) in 1914 (Commissioned Hong Kong 31 July 1914 - 5 August 1914)

A red cloth covered album containing 252 photographs glued in with 3 photographs loose. The covers have been damaged by dampness.
The album was compiled by Lt Cmdr. Philip V. Kilgour RN.

The photographs in this album document Commander Kilgour’s service in HMS Triumph (1903) from March until November 1914. Included are photographs of HMS Kennet (1907), SS Delta (1905) Hospital ship and transport, SMS Emden (1908), which was wrecked 10/11/1914, crew activities and ship’s personalities. There are also photographs of the South Wales Borderers and the 36th Sikhs and their commander, Brigadier General N W Barnardiston. HMS Triumph (1903) was acting as a depot ship at Hong Kong in 1913 and was present at the fall of the German Far Eastern base of Tsingtau, 7th November 1914. The photographs in the album relate to the combined British and Japanese attack on the German naval base at Tsing-tau, August – November 1914 and have been captioned by Kilgour – in some cases extended diary entries.
