Album relating to the Royal Naval Service of George Hodgkinson RN

An album with green board covers and a weak spine, containing 98 photographs pasted in. The upper cover embossed in gilt with 'Scrap Book', and there is also ink manuscript titling. The album includes George Hodkinson's time on HMS Barrosa as part of the 1869-70 Flying Squadron world cruise.

The album includes the following vessels: HMS Victory (1765), HMS Britannia (1820) in the 1860s, HMS Bristol (1861) circa 1868, HMS Warrior (1861) circa 1869.
Also lincluded are architectural views of Newark in the 1860s as well as Stubbington House near Fareham in the 1860s. The album also includes the following locations: Lisbon; Portsmouth; Plymouth Sound; Mediterranean (Gibraltar, Malta, Syracuse, Messina, Naples, Algiers); Simon's Bay, Madeira; South America circa 1869 (Bahia, Rio de Janeiro, Montevideo, Valparaiso); Australia circa 1869 (Melbourne, Sydney, Hobart, Ballarat); New Zealand circa 1870 (Wellington, Auckland, Glengariff Bay, Queenstown).
