Henry Berwick Crane was born 19 June 1894. He entered the Royal Navy and was promoted Midshipman 1912; Sub Lieutenant 1915; Lieutenant 1916; Lieutenant Commander 1924; Commander 1929 and Captain 1937. He was appointed naval aide-de-camp to the King 2 January 1946 and was awarded the C.B.E. the same year. Captain Crane married Pauline Stella Grenfell in 1918 and died in 1987.
