Star Globe. Hollow sphere with applied paper gores. Cartouche - within oval border above Gemini. Over cartouche – "Printed by George Philip & Son, Ltd." Within oval – "STAR GLOBE / KELVIN & HUGHES LTD. / EPOCH 1975."
This globe was made by Beryl Gooday in the Philips' globe workshop in North London, in a period when star globes were needed by the Royal Navy during the Falklands War. Ships using stellar observation were required to have back up for their electronic systems, and the Admiralty required that every serving ship should have two globes.
