Equipment model; Anchor model; Killick

Scale: Unknown. A model of a killick from Mentawei, W. coast of Sumatra. The shank is made from a flat wooden timber which is rectangular in section and has been attached to a grown V-shaped piece of wood at the crown, both of which are held together by rope and rattan lashings. The crown ends in a point. The arms are roughly at forty-five degrees to each other and are circular in section tapering to a point at their ends. The shank has a carved circular section towards the top, through which pass two wooden rods together with a further two rods notched either side of the shank, all of which form a cylindrical shaped stock enclosing two stones which are held together by six rattan lashings. The top of the shank has been drilled, through which passes a rattan loop for attaching the cable to.
