Scale: Unknown. Model of a wood anchor from Lake Nemi, Italy AD 35 consisting of a wooden shank which is rectangular in section and tapers towards the crown. There are two flat sided slightly curved arms which are attached either side of the shank at the crown and are secured by two wooden pegs which themselves are secured by two smaller wooden treenails. The arms are angled steeply upwards and finish rougly halfway up the shank and are complete with iron tips finishing in a point. At the top of the shank is an inverted lead stock which is rectangualar and square in section and is secured by a series of rope lashings, four of which finish in a large loop at the top to which a large rope cable has been knotted to. The shank carries through the crown and finishes in a small square section with a shoulder cut in on either side.
