Ship model; bottle

A bottle containing a model of the Finnish, four-masted barque 'Herzogin Cecilie' 1902-36 with a small tug in the neck of the bottle. The models are made of wood, the hull of the main ship painted white and with no sails, the rigging is made of sewing thread. A picture of another ship has been placed in the background. The model has a wooden stand with four bun feet. A plastic plaque on the stand is inscribed 'Finnish barque HERZOGIN CECILIE 1902-1936'.

There is more information about the ship on the underside of the stand as follows: 'STEEL BARQUE, 'HERZOGEN CECILIE, LENGTH 314 FT, BUILT IN GERMANY, 1902. FAMOUS AS A CADET SHIP UNTIL, AS A RESULT OF THE WAR, SHE PASSED TO THE FRENCH FLAG IS 1920, AND WAS SOLD IN 1921 TO CAPT. G. ERICSON, FINLAND. WRECKED ON S. DEVON COAST 1936. (A DUTCH TUG IN NECK OF BOTTLE. THE MODELS MADE BY REQUEST IN 1938 BY J. CHATTERTON (EX-SAILOR) 17 FERNVILLE ST. SUNDERLAND IN HIS 81ST YEAR', 'TWICE ROUND WORLD AND 21 TIMES ROUND HORN'.
