Six sheets joined. Col. ms. Medium: Vellum on fabric backing. Physical description Note: The decorated edges were folded down, probably over the edges of a board, and secured with iron tacks. Scale: [ca. 1:2 500 000]. Contents Note: Iconography: Madonna and Child, animals and cities. Cartouche reads (translated) 'O Chart which records the earth thou art richer than Lenpe. O Boundary of the Glittering Sea which shows all the perils, thou art Queen of the Mariners. Thy crown of degrees is a treasure and so correctly placed upon thy head that it amazes them who know how to use it." Then: "Thy ways are so clear and accurate that he who moves over them must fall in love with their accuracy." Then: "Navigation chart made by the hand of Alberto de Stefano, Navigator in the noble city of Genoa, in the year of 1644."
