Scales in Spanish leagues, Italian miles, German miles. Additional Places: Peru, Chile, Brazil, Straits of Magellan, Tierra del Fuego. Contents Note: Sea decorated with ships and sea monsters, land has an animal and giants. Elaborate cartouche frames, Inset; S America from the equator to 58 degrees south on a smaller scale. The west coast shows the new orientation established by Drake.
This chart shows two versions of the cartography of S America. The main chart is on the authority of Thomas Cavendish while the inset, with considerable inland detail, is from Spanish sources.
