Milford Haven
Single sheet. Coloured manuscript, laid on modern backing sheet. Scale [circa 1:22,000]. This is an ungraduated with north at 220 degrees. The coast is shown in elevation. Fortifications and houses, ships, boats, fish and a sea-monster are depicted. The chart contains a red Tudor compass rose, and text describing the harbour and options for fortifying it.
This chart is tentatively attributed to Paul Ive, one of the principal military engineers in the service of the English crown, who made a rapid survey of Milford Haven in 1595, between his work in the Channel Islands and moving on to Portsmouth.
