Track chart of the world
Single sheet, coloured lithograph. Mercator projection. On the back of the chart there is a handwritten table recording daily positions, speeds and distances and the time spent in each port.
The base chart is a printed proforma for marking the tracks of the Port Line's ships. This one was used to record a westward circumnavigation, from Glasgow to Newcastle via the Panama and Suez canals, a voyage of 30,678 miles.
