Bound sheet. Hand coloured engraving. Scale: [circa 1:8,500,000 (bar)]. The chart is graduated for latitude and longitude (Azores meridian). The bar scales are in Dutch, English and Spanish leagues. Additional Places: Europe. The chart is decorated with two ships and one sea creature.

A chart from Anthony Ashley's English edition of 'The Mariners Mirrour'. Lord Howard of Effingham ordered Waghenaer's sea atlas 'De Spieghel der Zeevaerdt' to be translated. It was so popular that 'waggoner' became the English term for a book of charts.
