Bound sheet. Hand coloured engraving. Scale: [circa 1:400,000 (bar)]. North at 232 degrees. The bar scales are in English, Spanish and Dutch leagues. Additional Places: Schelde. The chart contains four coastal profiles, shows beacons and buoys and is decorated with one ship.
A chart from Anthony Ashley's English edition of 'The Mariners Mirrour'. Lord Howard of Effingham ordered Waghenaer's sea atlas 'De Spieghel der Zeevaerdt' to be translated. It was so popular that 'waggoner' became the English term for a book of charts.
