Bound sheet, hand coloured engraving. Scale [circa 1:400,000 (bar)]. North at 197 degrees. The bar scale is in English Spanish and Dutch leagues. Additional Places: Normandy, Brittany, Channel Islands. The chart contains two coastal profiles and is decorated with four ships and two sea creatures.

A chart from Anthony Ashley's English edition of 'The Mariners Mirrour'. Lord Howard of Effingham ordered Waghenaer's sea atlas 'De Spieghel der Zeevaerdt' to be translated. It was so popular that 'waggoner' became the English term for a book of charts.
