Bound sheet. Hand coloured engraving. Scale: [circa 1:400,000 (bar)]. North at 180 degrees. The bar scales are in English, Spanish and Dutch leagues. Additional Places: Santander. The chart contains one coastal profile. It is decorated with two ships and three sea creatures and has an elaborate title cartouche.

A chart from Anthony Ashley's English edition of 'The Mariners Mirrour'. Lord Howard of Effingham ordered Waghenaer's sea atlas 'De Spieghel der Zeevaerdt' to be translated. It was so popular that 'waggoner' became the English term for a book of charts.
