Bound sheet. Hand coloured engraving. Scale: [circa 1:400,000 (bar)]. North at 112 degrees. The bar scales are in English, Spanish and Dutch leagues. Additional Places: Whitby, Tynemouth. The chart contains one coastal profile. It is decorated with five ships (two fishing) and three sea creatures.

A chart from Anthony Ashley's English edition of 'The Mariners Mirrour'. Lord Howard of Effingham ordered Waghenaer's sea atlas 'De Spieghel der Zeevaerdt' to be translated. It was so popular that 'waggoner' became the English term for a book of charts.
