Bound sheet. Hand coloured engraving. Scale: [circa 1:400,000 (bar)]. North at 43 degrees. The bar scales are in English, Spanish and Dutch leagues. The chart contains five coastal profiles. It is decorated with two ships and three sea creatures. Mountains, bears and a reindeer are depicted on the land.

A chart from Anthony Ashley's English edition of 'The Mariners Mirrour'. Lord Howard of Effingham ordered Waghenaer's sea atlas 'De Spieghel der Zeevaerdt' to be translated. It was so popular that 'waggoner' became the English term for a book of charts.
