Scale: Scales differ. Maps coloured. Taciprint (Tactical Information Printing System) was a mobile printing press developed and used by the UK Armed Forces, in order to rapidly bring together and print cartographic information to inform field operations. The TaciPrint consisted of a transportable container mounted on a flatbed lorry, which towed its own 30k VA generator. The container housed a single colour Rotaprint A2 Offset Litho printing press, a contact exposure frame for Film/Proof/Printing Plate production, and a cartographic drawing table for overlay production. Operating a TaciPrint typically involved a crew of four people: two printers, a draughtsman, and a photographic technician.
