Album relating to the naval career of Commander G. A. Titterton, Royal Navy
This is a brown cloth covered album (scrap book) with a weak spine, containing 151 photographs glued to 40 leaves, most photographs are captioned.
Contents: This album contains photographs relating to Commander Titterton’s career between 1904 and 1906 when he was serving on HMS Isis (1896). Ships include: HMS Hindostan (1841), HMS Eclipse (1894), HMS Montagu (1901) - the wreck and salvage, HMS Prince George (1895) and HMS Exmouth (1901), and HMS Landrail (1886) as a target in 1906. There are group photographs of naval officers as well as naval cadets and ratings on a number of the above ships. Places represented include Newquay, Broadstairs, Minehead, Funchal, Lundy, Falmouth, Sintra, Lisbon, Las Palmas, and Bermuda. There are also family photographs.
George Arthur Titterton was born 3 February 1890. He entered the Royal Navy in 1906, was promoted to Sub Lieutenant 1909, Lieutenant 1911 and Lieutenant Commander in 1919.
