Plate
A white, earthenware soup plate, transfer-printed around the rim with a wave and husk pattern. The crest of James Thomson & Co. (later Anderson, Anderson and Co.) is printed in the centre (similar to that of South Australia, depicting Britannia and an Aboriginal man), inscribed 'ORIENT LINE CLIPPER SHIPS TO AUSTRALIA', 'GUILIELMUS IIII DG BRITANNIAR REX F.D.', 'SIC AUSTRALIAE AUST'. The plate is painted over the glaze with the names of their clipper ships: 'MURRAY . COONATTO . ARGONAUT . RED RIDING HOOD . WHITE EAGLE . BORIALIS . ORIENT . GOOLWA . DARRA . YATALA . HESPERUS . HARBINGER . AURORA.' The name 'HEATHER BELL' has been added on a piece of tape. It is mounted in a display case.
