Edgar J. March Collection: "THE WAR OF 1914"

This is a blue cloth bound album, with a printed title in red as above on the front cover. The album contains 225 prints (of various sizes, up to 254mm x 279mm).

This album forms part of the Edgar March collection of prints, negatives, albums and lantern slides reflecting Mr March’s maritime interests. Ship plans and drafts, research notes, documents and papers have been acquired by other departments. Album 1065 covers the First World War and contains photographs of military aircraft, airships, submarines and German cruisers at Scapa Flow. Ships include HMS Revenge (1915), HMS Ark Royal (1914), HMS Argus (1916) and HMS Castor and the German light cruisers Konigsberg (1905) at Rufiji and Dresden (1907) sinking at Juan Fernandez.

March died 22nd July 19171 and bequeathed his collection to the National Maritime Museum. NB please refer to the Historic Photograph Collection for the copyright terms of his bequest.
