Framed plaque commemorating S/M Edward 'Spud' Murphy and HMS 'Harvester'. It comprises a presentation U-boat veteran's badge, photographs and an inscription. Commemorating Engineer Edward Murphy HMS 'Harvester' and his friendship with two German submariners from U-444 and U-432. It includes photographs of the three men - Murphy, Rudolf Spitz and Wilhelm Bucher.

HMS 'Harvester' (Cdr. Arthur Andre Tait, DSO, RN) was sunk on 11 March 1943 while escorting convoy HX-228. HMS 'Harvester' rammed the German submarine U-444 but was disabled and the U-boat had to be finished off by French corvette ‘Aconit’. HMS 'Harvester', then stationary, was torpedoed and sunk in position 51º23'N, 28º40'W by U-432 which was in turn brought to the surface by 'Aconit's' depth charges and finally destroyed by gunfire and ramming.

All three men were rescued together and formed a friendship.
